Summer has arrived in Southern Oregon! And along with it are long, sunny days and cool, crisp nights. It’s the season of adventuring — for camping, roasting s’mores, hiking unknown trails, and exploring new places.

While our team is always ready to jump into a water adventure, these are some of our favorite things to do when we aren’t on the river.

Walking Through Fields of Lavender

The Oregon Lavender Trail reaches its peak beauty from June through early August. As you walk through the fields, you’ll see different species of butterflies fluttering through the air, enjoying the plants’ delicious nectar. With five fields and nurseries to explore, it’s an amazing lavender experience in the Applegate Valley and beyond.

Opening on June 17th, the Applegate River Lavender Farm offers many activities for everyone to enjoy. You could pick a basket of fresh lavender or splurge on items in their gift shop.

Whether you take home honey and soap, or aromatic fresh bundles of lavender, a trip to the lavender fields is the perfect summer activity.

An Outdoor Concert at Discovery Park

If you like the water, a thrilling ride and a relaxing concert, you get all of these in one with Rogue Jet Boat Adventures. It’s a truly unique way to experience the Rogue River.

After your exciting ride down the river, you’ll enjoy a private concert at Discovery Park — a remote area under the towering cliffs of the Table Rocks. When you arrive, the park has local food trucks, a private lake for recreation, and shaded tables and hammocks. You’re also surrounded by spectacular scenery, fascinating history and local wildlife.

Go Fishing at Touvelle State Park

Sprawling along the banks of the Rogue River, TouVelle State Park is an incredible location to spend a day fishing.

The friendly waters have migrating steelhead, in addition to other species of trout and salmon. TouVelle’s recreation site is also a terrific place for picnics, get-togethers, or hiking.

Touvelle is a feast for the eyes and an experience not to be missed. One trip there and you’ll know why the Rogue River is known for its world-class fishing.

Plan Your Southern Oregon Summer

Outdoor adventure is one of the hallmarks of summertime in Southern Oregon. Whether you fish, hike, raft, go wine tasting or explore local lavender fields, you’ll encounter new and exciting experiences around every turn.
