It’s no secret that we love floating across the water in the summer, but it’s just as exciting to sail along the frozen ice on your skates. Below are some of the best local places to go ice skating right here in the valley.
1) The RRRink
Located in Medford, the RRRink is the coolest place in town! They have several ice skating options — check out their calendar and find your favorite. With everything from family skate time, to evening and cosmic skating, it’s sure to be a blast!
And if you, or someone you know, wants to refine their skating technique and skills, they can join the Southern Oregon Figure Skating Club (SOFSC). A non-profit club based at the RRRink, the SOFSC promotes figure skating in all its categories. They encourage members to participate in the many club activities, including freestyle skating sessions, taking proficiency tests, and entering SOFSC ice shows, exhibitions and competitions.
Whether you want to skate for fun or learn more about the sport, the RRRink has it all!
2) Ashland’s Outdoor Ice Rink
This outdoor rink is open from November through the last Sunday in February, depending on the weather. The rink is located at 95 Winburn Way, across from the Lithia Park playground. They also offer skate rentals that accommodate toddlers’ size 9, up to men’s size 15, so the whole family can participate.
There are several skating options, including the Rec Skate time, which is ideal for people of all ages to enjoy recreational ice skating. Regular admission rates apply and skate rentals are available. Or if you’re a less experienced skater, the Frozen Tots session is a slower skating time with fewer people around. It’ll help you get familiar with the rink and learn how to balance on your skates.
